Right Brain vs Left Brain

The way our brains are made is truly miraculous.

See how this speech shed's new light on the topic. This speech is really good. It is about neuro-anatomist, Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor and her amazing experience of a stroke. Her extensive knowledge of the brain and how it works, coupled with the fact that she experienced a stroke and watched her left brain shut down, gives us all a clear concept of which side of the brain caters to the ego identity and which side is put to use by the higher consciousness of the Observer.

Also check out this cool video and watch how you can test to see which side of your brain you are using right now.

Hi. This is really interesting. And really telling. Thank you for sharing it.

I may be a lone voice, but I don't agree with valuing one side of my brain more than the other. My view is that I love both sides and as myself I use both. Maybe the idea that one side is more valuable than another comes from living in the left side and wanting to be in the right side. What do you think?

@ Stream Source
I did not know about the group. I'm new to Jill's story and I appreciate you sharing the info.

@ Anne Partain
You wouldn't at all be a lone voice. I did not mean to make it sound like the right was better than the left. I just found it amazing that we are 'wired' like this.

Actually, Jill's story is a perfect example of why we need both sides. The fact that she lost so much functionality of her left side and the resulting experience shows that while we could feel at one with everything, we would not be able to carry out our life's work.

A balance is necessary. If you watched the Brain Test video, you will notice that it is said most people use the left side more. This results in an over used ego mind. You may also notice that the goal is to be able to switch back and forth. The perspective of the Observer brings balance to the equation and greatness in life is experienced.

We are who we are for a reason. That includes our goals. Without an identity, we could not have any. Yin and Yang, Shiva and Shakti, form and formlessness; they are part of the whole and equally necessary.

I'm glad you asked. :-)
